Announcing the 22nd Camaro Nationals! Classic Headquarters and the Nationals’ staff are happy to announce that Thursday evening June 24th thru Saturday afternoon June 26th, we will again see hundreds of Camaros descend on Frederick Maryland. There is a lot of “cooped up” energy out there, so don’t be surprised if this is a big year for car show turn out. The past year gave everyone lots of time to finish projects, detail cars; and it gave us lots of time to think of improvements we could make to the show; and here are a few of them:Outdoor Non-Judged is being dropped, and those cars will be combined with the Participant Vote class. Registration fees were the same, so why not put your car in the running for an award? Participant Vote classes are changing from 1st, 2nd & 3rd Place Awards to “Top 25” Awards. This change balances out some classes with only one or two cars, and others with 10 or 12 cars. It also makes parking easier, with less rules about who can park where. Heartbeat judging will remain 200 points, but will be awarded with Gold, Silver, and Bronze Awards rather than 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Place Awards. This will allow all cars to more evenly have a chance at an award, as the “Metal” awards are not limited to three per class. Another benefit of this change, is that we no longer have to spend time classifying and moving cars on the show field to specific areas. Since all Heartbeat Camaros will be judged only against a score sheet, the need to break Mild-Modified from Stock, etc, is no longer relevant. We will generally park cars by generation for this class. Maryland Camaro Club members are no longer restricted to a specific Class. Since we have adjusted the way the Participant Vote and Heartbeat classes are awarded, we really do not see awards being weighted toward any one club or group of attendees. This will allow MCC members to compete in larger more balanced classes. Indoor Non-Judged is a new class we had on the books last year. Those who just want to hang and show off their beautiful Camaros, but who want to protect their rides from the variables of open air, will have space designated for this class in Buildings 14 and 14A. (Obviously limited by space in the buildings.) Invitational Indoor Display – Benny Pfeiffer is in charge of finding great Camaros for our Building 9 Display area, and he will present his suggestions to a committee for final selection. This should give us a nice presentation for that area. Vendors – Legends Judge Dale Murphy is going to step in, to head up Sponsors, Advertisers, and Vendors. We really never had anyone in charge of this, so Dale is a welcome addition to our team. Social Media is ever important to keeping in-touch, and Drake Donovan is going to keep a hand in things on that end. You may remember Drake as one of our Auctioneers at the last few events. We will naturally be following any and all COVID guidelines in place at the time of the event. I expect temperature checks, masks, and available sanitizer, may be the norm. Every attempt will be made to hold the Banquet before the Auction, but if COVID restrictions prevent us from doing so, dinner tickets will be refunded at the show; so don’t hesitate putting them on your registration form. We have two ideas for the Auction, in case there is an issue with the banquet – so bring along a few extra pennies to bid on the great swag we collect from our generous sponsors and advertisers. Our website www.camaronationals.org is up and ready with all the new information, and our room code for the Hamptonn Inn should be posted later this week….. so get your registrations in, put a few masks in the Camaro glove box, and LET’S GET THIS PARTY STARTED! |
